Royal Opera House
Client: Royal Opera House/Collectifandthen
Role: Set design, production and build, with George Thomson/Visitor
We were commissioned by Circus Theatre group Collectifandthen to design a set for a performance at the Royal Opera House. The piece was based on a Borges poem 'Instants', which depicts a state between life and death. The torn room was designed to appear as a fragment of normality suspended between these two states, held six metres above the audience and raked at a six-degree angle. The set was surrounded by clouds, which were made of polyester resin and string to create a complex, lightweight mesh.
